Recommendations for Future Research
Further data analysis comparing data from previous or future kindergarten students who had access to the iPad as a learning tool in the classroom would be beneficial to support the conclusions of this study. A further in-depth investigation comparing the usefulness of certain applications to develop varied skills also is suggested. Which apps more rapidly aid development of academic skills, and which do not? A longitudinal study of using the iPad as a learning tool could support past research claims that letter and sound naming fluency achievement in the earlier years can indicate the future success of fluent reading. A future investigation comparing a control group with an intervention group using the iPad as a tool across a longer period of time is strongly recommended for more valid and reliable results to demonstrate a correlation of rapid subskill acquisition.
