Analysis of Results for Student A
Student A entered kindergarten with a strong foundation of early reading skills. He was already able to recognize all 54 upper and lowercase letters. His winter AIMSweb Letter Naming Fluency benchmark score of 76 suggests an instructional recommendation to consider need for individualized instruction because of his well above average score for letter naming fluency. His winter AIMSweb Letter Sound Fluency benchmark score of 48 suggests an instructional recommendation to consider need for individualized instruction because of his above average score for letter-sound fluency. Student A scored a 43 on the Phoneme Segmentation subtest and a 38 on the Non-Sense Word Fluency subtest. These scores placed him at above average and consider need for individualized instruction. The kindergarten students were introduced to 20 high-frequency words. Student A’s ability to read 58 high-frequency words with automaticity suggests the need for individualized instruction. Winter post intervention results present significant development in all reading subskill areas for Student A, displaying a positive correlation of a successful intervention. Future instruction for this student will include practice of spelling more challenging words, writing sentences, reading phonics stories, and developing comprehension strategies, using new iPad apps and multi-sensory learning centers.
