Results for Student B
Student B was assessed in September 2013 (fall) and January 2014 (winter) using the Marie Clay Letter Identification subtest. Student B recognized 51 upper and lower case letters on the pre letter identification assessment, and 54 on the post letter identification assessment in the winter. On the fall AIMSweb Letter Naming Fluency benchmark, Student B named 28 upper and lowercase letters in one minute. Student B improved her score on the winter benchmark to name 55 upper and lower case letters in one minute, an above average score. On the fall AIMSweb Letter Sound Fluency subtest, Student B recognized the sounds of 8 upper and lower case letters in one minute. Student B improved her score on the winter benchmark to recognize 35 letter sounds in one minute, an average score for letter sound fluency. The AIMSweb Phoneme Segmentation and Non-Sense Word Fluency benchmarks were administered in the winter and spring of kindergarten. Student B scored a 6, in the below average range on the Phoneme Segmentation subtest, and a 30, average range on the Non-Sense Word Fluency subtest. In the fall, Student B was able to read 4 words with automaticity from the QRI-5 pre-primer 1 word list. On the winter QRI-5 assessment, Student B was able to read 8 words with automaticity. When high-frequency words from the Scott Foresman Reading Street curriculum were assessed on a teacher-made word list assessment, Student B was able to read 3 words with automaticity in the fall and 25 words with automaticity from the same list in the winter. Winter post intervention results present a significant increase in developed reading subskills for Student B, displaying a positive correlation to a successful intervention.
